About Ji

Welcome to my world of art! My name is Ji Hyang Ryu, and I’m an artist and instructor based in Riverview, New Brunswick. Over the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of creating vibrant, meaningful artworks while building a thriving artistic career. After spending seven years working at the Moncton Hospital, I transitioned to being a full-time artist in 2020, pursuing my passion wholeheartedly.

At my studio, Ji Hyang Ryu Art Studio/Gallery, I offer a variety of art classes and workshops, helping others discover their creative voice. I also take on commissioned work, including murals, live art events, and custom portrait paintings. My art is deeply rooted in the connection between nature and humanity, as seen in my recent series, *Whispers of the Wild*. Through my work, I aim to evoke feelings of harmony, healing, and joy.

I’m proud to have my work recognized on a national level. The federal government(Global Affair 2024) and the Canada Council for the Arts(2023) have purchased my paintings, and I’ve been awarded provincial and national art grants. Additionally, my work has been featured on Global News (2020) and CBC Radio-Canada's website (2021). My journey has also taken me to the Art Battle Canada National Championships, where I represented my province. In addition to my studio work, I’m involved in several community art projects, including large-scale murals like the TransAqua mural.

When I’m not painting or teaching, I enjoy practicing pottery and spending time with my family. Every creation, whether it’s a painting or a bowl, reflects my deep appreciation for the beauty around us.
